Is it bad to use a subdomain as homepage? earn by blogging adsense income

Hello, i have various domain names, but for now i hesitate mainly between two domains for my content, that i want to be more general (before my other domain names were more related to finance, and i want to talk only about finance, investments), that's why i am thinking about using my name, this way i can talk of everything i want.

I have these 2 domain names :

1. aribaut.com (my last name)
2. pierre.aribaut.com (my first name and last name, actually not a domain name but a subdomain)

If i use the first one as homepage, i find it a little impersonal, as there is not my first name, and looking on internet, few people do that (using only last name as domain name for their official website), arnold schwarzenegger does, bill gates too...

If i use the second one as homepage, it represents me entirely as there is also my first name, but...it's a subdomain, and use a subdomain as main homepage, i don't know if that's a good idea, same here, few people do that, would that be because it's bad for SEO ? Bad for ranking?
