Should I use different country specific urls for the same website? earn by blogging adsense income

Hi everyone, been really struggling with the setup of my domains for a start-up. I have a business that is going to be servicing both the US and Canada, and currently own both the .ca and .com. This is a business directory website which contains thousands of links that are both Canadian and US.

So I uploaded the same site after it was completed to a .com and .ca domain name. Been getting nervous because I've read on some online blogs that having both is not a good idea.

My question is should I even bother with 2 separate sites for country specific businesses, and if I should just put everything under the .com.
