How can one monetize a site of user-submitted content (think short stories) aside from website ads? There's a niche here (other websites are ancient, not user friendly), but this niche doesn't seem profitable as much as I would like to make this website...
Things I thought of:
- At some point allowing short story authors to submit ebooks on my platform with competitive rates- I essentially become a niche publisher with royalties if there's a large audience after time
- allow users to give "donations/points" to short story authors, sort of like reddit gold, but I take a small percentage.
- subscription service - but how much value do I have to give? (Ad-free and what else?)
