I'd love to have some input and opinions from people selling merchandise on this matter. We've been using services like Printful in the past, but I'm now looking into alternatives for selling merchandise as we have more products to sell and want to offer more unique / less generic products. Print on demand is easy to start with, but perhaps also limiting. To me, these seem like the pro's and cons of each:
| Print on Demand | Holding Inventory |
|---|---|
| No initial investment | Significant startup investment |
| Easy to get started | Harder to set up |
| No storage costs | Costs to store products |
| No risk of leftover items | Risk of items not selling |
| Higher costs for printing | Lower costs for printing |
| Limited to products offered by partner | No limits in terms of products |
| Less flexibility in terms of location where products are sent from | More flexibility in terms of where products are sent from. |
| Almost 100% automated | Not always 100% automated |
My question for people that have a business selling merchandise: how do you structure it and why? And in case you hold stock, where do I start by finding a reliable fulfillment / warehousing partner?
