Do hidden pages benefit SEO? Debate with client. earn by blogging adsense income

Hi SEOs,

So I'm finding myself in a debate with a new client. A previous online marketing agency has placed several "hidden pages" across the website that are not reachable directly on the website. They were told this way they these pages would rank faster in the SERP and this would be good for overall SEO.

As a result, there are now around 20 hidden pages. These do get indexed by Google, but otherwise are totally unreachable.

I've been around in the SEO world for some time now, but this "technique" is new to me. I'm having a hard time to believe that this would actually provide a good UX, or that it would benefit SEO.

So, do any of you have experience with this or could shine some light on the matter.
