My name is Sawyer Altman and I’m a recent graduate of Stanford University. I trained at the Design School and School of Education as an undergraduate, and now teach storytelling workshops and share stories told by unexpected authors: children from underserved communities.

I am in the works on infusing that model with a sustainable cycle. We’re designing a regular sponsorship program, in which we design, illustrate, and print storybooks from the stories authored by students in our workshops, then deliver these storybooks to the doorsteps of families around the world, and use the proceeds to fund future workshops.

This is a social entrepreneurship approach to producing social good. It allows us to be sustainable, and to scale our impact in a way that charity doesn’t. The most beautiful part: one student’s story provides for the next.

I encourage you all to check out our just-launched Kickstarter to get a feel for our workshops and our model. You can help us amplify the voices of these learners. Any support you can offer will enable us to deploy workshops in Nepal, the Yucatán, Lesotho, and Ghana over the coming months.
