I’m sure the former is the majority, but I️ am more interested in the latter. Specifically, when there is a power imbalance.

Let’s consider, to keep things simple, the case in in which you’re a fair manager/owner, paying proportional to the person’s contribution and market value, the SO gets no equity, that they are hourly or salaried, and that this is a low-risk business (I️.e they’re not going to get hurt).

The other perspective is welcome too, where your SO is the one in charge.
