So the story is that I am originally from the US and left home a little over 10 years ago for a country in Europe. Well, I recently switched companies and they want to expand into the US and me being fluent the local language and culture here as well as obviously American meant that I am now the manager for US operations that are thus far non-existent.
Now here comes the interesting part, now that we have some project imminent, I may end up having to move back and become CEO of COMPANY USA subsidiary and I've only ever managed low level projects in the past. If things go right, this would be around 20 million in revenue the first year and growth from there.
So...should I accept this....what the fuck do I do to learn? Just jump in head-first and read management books? I know I'm going to have to rely very, very heavily for the people working for me but it just seems like an overwhelming opportunity that I couldn't ever turn down since being able to have CEO of a decent sized company on a résumé at 35 is hard to beat and seems like a way to get into the millionaire level positions in the big corporations.
So yeah, this is half question and half exasperated rant....thoughts?
