Looking at merging two websites...best way to preserve SEO? earn by blogging adsense income

I own an auction and real estate company. Currently, we have two websites. One for the auction company which was started a few years ago (let's call it auctionx.com) and one for the real estate side of the company which we just began a couple months back (let's call it REy.com). I am using wordpress with the avada theme on both. The auction site looks like trash, as I had never done any web design. The RE site looks pretty good so far compared to our local competition's site. We'd like to merge the two sites so that if customers go to auctionx.com or REy.com, they will see the same content and effectively be on the same site. However, currently we are ranked #2 in a google search in our local area for our services using auctionx.com. What is my best option here? I have a very limited grasp on SEO but would like to merge the sites without losing the #2 rank on auctionx.com.

I realize this is absolutely a noob question and do apologize for that but thought this might be a good place for suggestions.
