are all SSL certificates created equal? does Google care? earn by blogging adsense income

I noticed that hosting sites have the SSL certificate as a bundled option and it's relatively expensive..

is it a better option to do an "independent" certification.. and does Google care if it's from GoDaddy vs a smaller company?
