Question for those selling a consumer product to retailers. Have you gotten an in-store test and had the test fail? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I had a successful Kickstarter two years ago. I've been selling online for a year and half minus several months that I was out of stock. I just launched into retail over the summer at a trade show and my first key account was Brookstone. I just got the results from my test with them and it did not move enough volume to roll out national.

It feels like a punch in the gut. They and I were anticipating a Q4 order for anywhere from 5-15k units. I'm no stranger to that feeling as my entrepreneurial journey is filled with ups and downs. Being that I'm just delving into retail I'd like to hear from others that have been there. Should I take this as a warning sign? Or have you had tests fail while others succeed? I'm onboarding with another retailer now that is 5 times the size of Brookstone. Needless to say I really need this one to be successful. I'd value any insight for feedback. Thanks
