Hi /r/seo, I'm new here, and to SEO in general. I have been studying the topic for the month or so now and just have a couple questions.
You see, I'm the type to hold back until I am confident in something, and I am struggling with deciding on a keyword that I think I can actually rank for. My blog is very new, and so I don't want to sink time into creating content around a keyword that there is no way I'll rank for. I do have topics I can/want to write about, but I'm just trying think about how I should approach it to get it in front of the most eyeballs. Just was wondering if you guys had any tips on analyzing the SERP competition.
I have the MOZ explorer bar that shows PA & DA, and see that ubersuggest has a competition column now that neil patel has acquired it (not sure how this works though). Is there anything I should be looking for in particular when analyzing competition? Any range of numbers I should be looking for? I know it probably is a bit more complicated than just looking at DA, PA, and the competition number on ubersuggest, but if there's anything that you guys can offer me that may help me feel more confident that a keyword is worth targetting, I'd greatly appreciate
With this being said, it is pretty clear to me that the key factor is to write killer content that gets social shares and inbound links.
