As a creative, how have you succeeded living in a place that lacks people professionally dedicated to creative fields? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

In my case, I live in a small university city of about 150,000 people. There are many art programs and art opportunities, but almost no stores to sell work at, or the galleries rarely sell pieces. There is a lot of interest in expanding the arts community and it is an exceptionally affordable place to live, but the majority of people interested in earning a living through a creative field leave for bigger cities. It seems like the common rhetoric is to move to LA, Chicago, Seattle, or New York, find a way to survive the insane rent prices while hoping to network with enough people to hit it big, even with much less time to actively create. I'm feeling starved of peers except through online means, but also feel like this place has potential to be a creative hub and is exceptionally affordable.
