App idea/development, competition dilemma. entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

So today i decided to do research on an idea that i have, and found out that an app that is pretty much like my idea already exists.

Now i know that the fact that your idea already exists isn't fatal, but does the same apply to apps?

As issues with patents etcetera are more present.

Now this app has 500k+ downloads, is picked as editors choice by google play and a lot of positive reviews.

But on the other hand, it doesn't have a IOS app, it's founders are based in china, the app is in english but the support form on their site for example is in chinese.

Should i let this idea go or do i still stand a chance? For example by focussing on ios and the dutch/european market
