My page in the search goes to examplesite.com (Canonical question)is that bad earn by blogging adsense income

Is that bad that it doesn't go to http://examplesite.com? Even when I type in http://examplesite.com it goes to examplesite.com. I have it so www.examplesite.com goes to the current site but I'm not sure why it's not showing http:// before it. All the competitors in the search have www before their site, wondering if I should change it. I'm also looking into getting SSL but just started looking into that.
