I've decided to pursue the dream of making a living from home. Any advice? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

So for the last couple of years I've been taking software development classes from my local community college. I'm getting very near graduating with an associates, but I'm growing increasingly anxious as I get closer to graduation. I've found that most of the motivation and excitement that was present when I first enrolled has almost entirely disappeared. It's led to a lot of introspection and questioning of what I really want to do with my life. It's been really hard for me to find something that I'm really passionate about.

As a single father, working and going to school has really put a damper on the amount of quality time I get with my kids. I also feel much more comfortable and productive when I am at home. I've also felt this nagging disappointment that's been eating away at me every since I've gone into the traditional 9-5 work force. I've decided that I want to take control of my income and fix this part of my life for good. I want to make my own schedule, and I want to put my sights on the things that are most important to me: my kids and self-development. Though I've been thinking about it for awhile now, today I've made the firm decision to pursue a career at home because I believe it will drastically improve my happiness and the quality of my life.

Unfortunately that's about the only thing I'm decided on. I thought I would post my experience here and see if anyone has any general advice or guidance on where to start researching. If it's relevant, here is my experience so far:

-I'm a decent programmer. I've been programming as a hobby since I was 15 and I am about to graduate my community college's computer programming course with an associates. I have no professional experience and it seems like all of the programming jobs I have looked into require a bachelors and prior experience.

-I have a fair amount of experience in various kinds of front and back-end web development, though I'm not yet a master of any of it. I feel reasonably competent in this area.

-I have a Comptia A+ certification, which is a common defacto certification for people entering tech support jobs.

-I have some certifications and a bit of formal training in HVAC. I have about six months experience as a residential HVAC tech.

-I have about ten years of experience in retail and customer service.

-I have about five years of experience doing freelance soundtrack work for independent game developers and film makers. I've done this mainly as a hobby. Though I've been able to make some at-home income here, it has never been close to a livable wage. I think this experience is what has put me off of trying freelance web development.

-I've always been sort of interested in building a web based business of some kind, but I know next to nothing about business management. It also seems like every idea for a web-based business has been done to death.

Thanks to anyone that responds. I don't know really what I'm looking for in this thread, maybe just some advice or something to get the gears turning in my mind. I really feel like I'm approaching a major cross roads and it's a bit scary not having any idea of which path to take.
