Figured this out so figured a good sub to post it would be here seeing as there's so many people who want to be successful [Yes!] and/or possibly famous [I don't] here.
Problem: A while ago I asked a question http://ift.tt/2oPc3Wb.
Not satisfied with the lack of numbers in the answers I got. I set out to find more concrete numbers. I started researching how many millionaires the world has, and then how many notable people. They’re mutually exclusive, one doesn’t mean the other by the way.
How I calculated approximately how many millionaires the world has:

http://ift.tt/1LtXfjh Using Capegmini’s result from 2015 of how many millionaires are in the world. I chose because I am more interested in people who can potentially live [not too perfect, but pretty happy with the numbers I got] like millionaires, not necessarily people who have a house worth a million. That’s like upper middle class in some areas.
This is how Capegmini calculates it as per the CNBC article ”$1 million in investible assets, which doesn't including primary residences. So if you have a house worth $1 million and an art collection worth $5 million, but investible assets of only $500,000, you don't make the cut. That results in a much lower count”
And this is what they say about the amount as per article: “Last week, Capgemini and RBC Wealth Management released their World Wealth Report measuring the world's millionaires. The report said there were 920,000 new millionaires created in 2014, bringing the global total to 14.6 million.” …
So let’s bump it up a bit. Number is from 2015. I know there’s A margin of error here, but who cares. Once you look at the Final number you’ll see what I’m taking about.
Therefore we do 16M / 7501517877 Total Population
And we get the amount of the world that is rich. In a world of 7.5B People that is approximately 0.00213290166 or 0.213290166% Aka 0.21%.
How I calculated how many famous people the world has:

It states that 0.0086% is notable as per Wikipedia. I would try to increase this number a bit more because some time has passed, but Wikipedia isn’t really stating how many notable people there are in 2017 in a easy format. And plus, these are all huge estimates anyways.
Conclusion: Approximately 0.0086% of people in the world are famous and approx. 0.21% is rich. But these numbers are not correlated. This would mean that the majority of people that are rich are not famous in anyway, which would mean that the celebrities we see on TV account for a small fraction of them. This is obvious [well, more obvious now and only to some people..] but at least we have some numbers backing this up now.

I would say that a minority are millionaires because they excelled at A sport/entertainment and the majority either inherited the money or got the money through more conventional means like starting a business, and thanks to Jackelfrink’s response on my original thread I would say that 80% made the money themselves and 20% inherited. Take all of this with a grain of salt but yep.
