I've wanted to convert my audio business to a pre-fab, online only outlet for some time now. The model has been in development for over two years and a library of high quality audio and music is ready to go up online. I'd like to rival some of the industry leaders which do have pay only sites and then there are some high quality free sites that focus more on foley/sound design alone.
Now, I do have some strong backing in terms of names and finance but to 'hit the ground running'...is it a better idea to go fully free/partially free at first and then pull the rug out from under my initial following? What has been successful for you in past when it comes to a fully digital product?
I'd sell/give this product royalty free, of course. It won't be my sole income but supplemental income could be nice. Im not even sure if my question is written in a coherent way for anyone else to really understand but any help would be appreciated.
