To give some background. I own half of a company, one other person owns the other half. We are currently projected to do about 70k this year (second year). We're in the IT and web industry. Two people want to join our company and take 25% each of the companys stock, they are very talented and currently do work as subcontractors for us. They are bringing over their clients and want to merge with us, one of the individuals in particular has done over 600k in sales the last 5 years in a row...... I have put my heart and soul into this business for the past 4 years, I have turned down very good job offers, I have worked 10+ hours per day, I fuckin drive around with my laptop just in case I have to park and pull it out on the side of the road to work. Every single ounce of this company is where it is because I've done every shred of work. And part of me feels foolish for contemplating turning down what everyone sees as a seemingly "godsend" of an offer. I see it as I am not going to give up all that I've worked to be an equal 25% partner with these guys. I would MUCH rather grow this thing just me and my business partner and be able to say one day that my company is worth 1 Million and I OWN it. I want to work out a profit sharing deal with these two guys because they are exceptional, but I refuse to give up equity of my hard work, especially since it's not a cash deal.
