Becoming an affiliate for Walmart or even Amazon - help. entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

So my idea was to sign up for some sort of affiliate program and then start to advertise a ceratin product for one of these companies. My struggle is HOW and HOW I can achieve this idea. I think it would be a great opportunity to help them out and also make some cash money. I would be advertising technology products, something very popular around Christmas time. Please fill me in on anything prier knowledge I should have.
