The lean inventory: what do you guys think? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hello entrepreneurs,

I'm planning on starting an e-commerce store with a very tight budget (~$1k). So I came up with an idea to keep costs low for inventory. The idea is as follow. Lets say I'm going to sell phone cases. Would it be a good idea to buy 40 different phone cases, 5 units per phone case with an average price of $2, with a total cost of 40x5x$2 = $400 for inventory. Then I'm just going to see which ones sell and re-order those. These phone cases would be from AliExpress.

So what do you guys think of this idea? Smart or not? Also, if I'm going to use FB ads/AdWords, should I push the traffic to my home page instead of a specific product since I have very little units per product which makes the ads unprofitable.
