Logo is complete, now.. How do I protect my business idea/brand?

I already bought all the domains associated to my business, trademark IS EXPENSIVE but is it worth it? I want to do this right, do I need to hire a lawyer to submit trademark?

Is it possible to patent an idea or a business? Can anyone just snoop in and copy my app/business???
