So I wrote this open source application (MIT license) designed for asset rental/reservation. Meaning as a user I can go to this application, select some asset (usually vehicle), select some date range to reserve it for and pay for it. The application logs all sorts of financial information and schedules which vehicles are available (there are other features but these are the main ones).
It is currently used by a university to rent vehicles from one department to others or to the public. I know the common profit model of open source software is selling support, hosting, custom features and branding. I know for a fact I can do all of these things, however I would not know how to find clients for this sort of application, I also do not know if any other institutions would be willing to pay for such a thing. Could anyone tell me what sort of market there is for this sort of application and if it would be profitable?
