Friend is building an app that is extremely similar in name and service to one that already exists? Convince them to change their name? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

So a few friends of mine are building an app, it's a solid idea that likely has a market. But right now there is almost something identical that serves the Canadian (specifically Toronto) area that is already up and running. They (my friends) are aware of this service/app but their name is literally like one letter off. So for example.

Uber.ca (existing app).

Ubler.us (their app).

Services are almost identical.

I'm trying to convince them they need to change the name before things really get going, but they aren't having it.

I want to help them by providing some marketing services (I'm in digital marketing) but I fear that if they truly gain some ground this is going to be an issue. Am I wrong?
