So when I was around 7/8, I got a ice shaver for my birthday. It lead to me having several snow cone stands over the summers for the next couples years. It started out as a way for me to make money and I ended up using the money I made to buy my first bike and eventually turned into a fundraiser for a charity I started as I got older. Eventually I got a real job and my charity fell apart so I stopped having them. However, this year my younger brothers brought it up and asked if I would help them because I was an expert. They finally worked me down and I caved. I gave them $50 for supplies and helped them make a shopping list and pros and cons lists of certain requirements where they had options. We also picked a date this Friday which is a huge concert at the park half a block down the street. I mean 20,000+ people and spots being claimed at 6 am in the morning with blankets. So hopefully they should get quite a bit of business. The concert starts at 7 and then there's fireworks at 10 but they will be done by then. Anyways I am here for expertise on a few decisions that came up.
Should we do cheap styrofoam cups that will keep the snow cones cold or more expensive red solo cups that will be sought after by high school students and college kids?
What would be the best time have the sale going on? I was thinking 1/2-5/6.
What are good ways to advertise? I was going to post on my Facebook and snapchat as well as put signs up around the neighborhood. I was also considering posting in Craigslist but I am not sure about that.
Should we do small (8oz) cups for $1, big (16/20 oz) cups for $2/3 or both?
Also any other advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you
