My business partner and I have a profitable business which currently operates in a single location within New Jersey.
We have interest from another business owner who would like to offer our model and services within his physical location.
We would like to avoid the cost and rigmarole of franchising, as we are not 100% sure that is the route our business will take in the future...so we are looking for options to be able to allow this business owner to offer our services (and we will receive a cut of the revenue.)
One option we are thinking about is actually bringing the business owner on as a W2 employee of our company, and paying him a nominal rent for using his space to deliver our program.
Does anyone have thoughts on how we can legally avoid the Federal Franchising costs?
The potential affiliate/employee/franchisee is pretty flexible, so all options are on the table.
