Hi guys, I've facing an issue with a business partner. The work we do for our clients requires a fair bit of assets, and the way we expense them is by first buying them with our personal bank cards, then claiming from the company. My business partner takes care of the finances and claims.
In the past, I used to overspend a lot which exhausted a lot of our company's resources. However, I've since learnt my lesson and I moderate what I need to spend on so as to maintain a decent level of profit margin. However, when starting work for new clients, a substantial amount of money is needed to purchase the assets, which I buy with my own personal account. The profit margin is pretty low for the first few months, but gets intensely better later on.
The issue I'm having is that my partner keeps believing that I am overspending, and is afraid of the company's profit margins. I have a few thousand dollars over worth of claims that I have not claimed and he refuses to pay me for that. All this despite him acknowledging that my methods of work have a high startup cost, and I have been showing good profit margins and good feedback from our current clients. In fact, just today in response to my asking for claims, he questioned me on my practices, despite us agreeing this was our company strategy.
I'm currently still a student and that few thousand dollars is worth a lot to me. However, I've not been able to convince me to ease on the claims and he never likes to process my claims on time at all. Once I had to scrounge off my friends for food for a few days because I didn't have any money in my bank - I was still waiting for claims.
TLDR: How can I convince my partner that I'm not overspending, and to process my claims on time?
