Over the last 8 months my good friend and I have been designing and perfecting our 1st MVP (Ecologically friendly Bluetooth speaker) http://ift.tt/2tPIzWF I have been using this forum for guidance for the business side and here is what i have learned/utilized. *Find a great co-founder that has skills in areas you need and don't posses. Passion, drive and integrity were key attributes I was looking for. *Learn as you go. There truly is ever answer available to you on the NET/youtube/redditt/etc. Try and learn something everyday that pertains to your business. Remember failure is part of life and keep persistent. *Create a RAIL (Rolling Action Item List) to ensure you prioritize and track tasks. This keeps everyone on the same page and informed on issues at hand. It will drive you to complete your tasks and move forward. *Focus on your strengths = Engineering. Early on we identified digital marketing was our weakness. We were able to get a couple of amazing marketing interns @ GenM to help us. They were such a good fit they are now apart of our startup family. *Conserve cash. We were on a tight budget and we bootstrapped this venture without outside investment. We did everything ourselves where possible from industrial, mechanical, acoustic, and electrical design. We have been learning marketing and targeting advertising, trademark, negotiated pricing and build 4 iterations and finalized on our MVP. This will allow us to keep our equity and have our reserve fund for 1st production run and marketing. *Have fun and include your family/friends. Be open to feedback and try and take in criticism. Everyone has a different thoughts (i.e cost, appearance, features). Listen but only follow your vision/path What we used: *Google Everything (Gsuite, Analytics, trends, Doc/Spreadsheets/etc). I cannot stress how important spreadsheets are for business *Sketch up (Industrial design) *Shopify (easy to use platform) *Wave (accounting/books) *Adobe Illustrator, Snappa, Canva *Sales 1st project (Kickstarter) Now the real challenge of pull court press marketing and advertising.
