H1/Text on Homepage. Is it necessary? earn by blogging adsense income

Hey all,

I've heard Yoast say that focusing on optimizing your homepage is not necessary. With this in mind, is it ok to have a homepage without any text or header tags?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm working in a WordPress theme with built-in responsiveness. Unfortunately, text/header tags do not automatically resize, which makes the layout I've designed look horrible on mobile.

That said, image adjust just fine. So my hope is that I can replace all instances of text with images (images would still have the text, but being a PNG, it would resize appropriately).

So back to my question: Is it essential for me to have an h1 tag (and a few h2s) on my homepage, or are images enough? Would not having an h1 tag on my homepage be a mistake?
