Any SEO directors here? What specific tasks do you do that differentiates you from a basic specialist? earn by blogging adsense income

Background: 4 years at an agency doing all sorts of SEO tasks.

My company doesn't seem to have a typical career ladder for me to follow /advance into different job titles so I'm having a hard time determining what I should be focusing my energies on to advance my career.

I got some advice saying if my company won't give me a promotion and a title of SEO manager or director I have to take it.

If I want to take over the role as a SEO director then what specific tasks should I take the initiative on and start doing without being asked?
