Tech entrepreneurs with no coding experience: How do you approach a programming intensive project with no programming experience and no capital to invest in a working prototype? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

TL;DR up front: I can't program, but I have two web/mobile applications that I've designed in great detail on paper. How do I bring them to life?

I have two application ideas that I've sat on for years. I've planed out the feature sets in exhaustive detail. Everything from major goals of the app to the tiny user friendly settings to improve QOL and make a well rounded app. For one, I even have a semi-functional, pictures only prototype that I made on a wire framing site.

Since designing my first app on paper in 2012, I've learned a few lessons. The biggest, and most difficult, is that entrepreneurship is about action, not ideas. I've watched half of my first app features manifest in Discord. I don't have any delusions of "hey, I thought of that first!" That's silly and not productive. I do have mixed feelings of "damn that really was a good idea" and "wow, if only I could have coded it myself when I thought of it."

I've tried sweat equity, but it's understandably hard to get someone to commit to a project starting from scratch that doesn't even contribute to their bottom line. It's even more difficult to get anywhere fast with only one programmer on the project. My background is in IT and I can do basic scripting. I currently work a DevOps pipeline for a software team (which, surprisingly, has required little understanding outside of some bash/puppet scripting). I'm not a novice when it comes to how software works, but I'm helpless at putting ideas to action in this arena.

So here I sit with two ideas that I've put many hours of thought and research into and I'm helpless to go farther. I've thought of just throwing all my designs onto this subreddit and hoping whoever brings them to fruition is kind enough to give me a shout out on Twitter. Yet, every time I type it out, I find it hard to post, as if I'm going to magically learn C, Java, and everything else the moment I send them into the ether.

As many a lost soul has said, what do?
