is meta keywords tag still necessary ? earn by blogging adsense income

Meta keywords is no longer use in Search engines like google. After reading this I did not use meta keywords 3 of my sites. I did not use on flag hit counter and Zoomin Photography . My question is am i doing right or wrong?
