Idea for a product embedded with ultrasonic sensor. Where do I go from here? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I have an idea for a product that includes an ultrasonic sensor (among other uses, they can tell you when an object is in close proximity to it). I have no idea what my next step is. I know I will need to get a patent at some point, but I'm not an engineer and I have no idea how I would even go about drawing up secs for the patent. Also, there may be some intermediary steps before getting the patent of which I'm not aware.

Anyone out there have any experience with this sort of thing?
