Newbie Needs Help with 301s earn by blogging adsense income

Hi all,

A tight budget has pushed me, a content writer, into a more digital marketing-oriented role. I'm trying to learn about all different aspects of improving site speed and rank, and I'm currently looking at a report on ~150 301 internal redirects. I've read how 301s can be vital in order to maintain the UX, i.e. no dead end 404s etc. The thing is, I don't know how these 301s came to be - can they come about automatically in certain cases? No one on the team has any knowledge of setting up these redirects. Further, should I be concerned about this number of them? Do I need to get rid of them?

There are some 302s and 404s and I know I need to tackle these, but I don't know what I should be doing about the 301s.

Just want if I'm after a red herring here. Thanks in advance
