Online Store Basics: When to form a business? What steps to take? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I'm planning on starting a small online store. I'll be selling products in a niche market through my website. There will be two types of products for sale:

1. Print materials (books/magazines/art) that I create myself and get printed through a third-party printer which I will mail to the customer.
2. Apparel that I design which is then printed on-demand through a third-party printer and drop-shipped to the customer.

This project is mostly just for fun, so I don't anticipate doing much volume off the bat (I'll be happy to break even). But I want to make sure I have my bases covered and get started on the right foot. I'm completely new to this, so I have some really basic questions:

1. Do I need to register as a business right away?
   • If so, how do I determine if an LLC or a Sole Proprietorship is the way to go?
   • If not, at what point do I need to register as a business?
2. How can I plan on how this will affect my taxes?
   • Do I just add it as additional income when tax time rolls around?
3. Is there any sort of guide for the legal side of selling things online?
4. Are there any other legal and/or tax things I need to consider?

I'm sure there are tons of questions I haven't even considered yet, but as you can tell, I'm in the early stages here. If you have any advice, or could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for reading!
