Skyscraper technique for service website - Should I invest more time? earn by blogging adsense income

Hi,

I have been trying to use Skyscraper technique to grab some quality link to a design related service website. I have approached almost 200 websites and was able to build only 2 links.

I found this technique very time consuming, as most of the webmasters don't even reply.

Does anybody there in this group has used this technique for creating backlinks to their services website?
