I've built a website for a fairly niche gaming community. The site gets around 1500 pageviews a day from ~380 users.
I have read that the gaming niche is the lowest paid niche.
I'm trying to understand my AdSense metrics (I'm new to Adsense) and hopefully get this site paying for it's own hosting.
I've had days where the site earns $2 and more commonly days where it earns 20 cents.
Out of 5.7k pageviews and 11.5k impressions, 5 ads were clicked resulting in what I believe is a really low(?) CTR. My page RPM varies wildly and I'm not sure if that is in relation to thet CTR for that day. Also, the Active View Viewable is from 40-49%, is this something I should try to fix?
Some examples of ad placements on my most visited pages: http://legacy-wow.com/
Basically they are above the content. Mobile ads are a little more ingrained in the content.
Should the Ads be placed differently? Should I avoid allowing google to auto-place the ads and place them myself? Are there any youtube videos or reading material someone can recommend?
I know this is borderline /r/entrepreneur material but I figure the answers to this may help others like me struggling to make a project profitable / break even.
Thanks guy
