Hi everyone,
I run a retail store that specializes in customer returns / overstock / liquidation items. Our business is doing decently, and we're pulling in about $15,000/mo, and growing.
One catch to our business is that a fair bit of items don't work. In some cases, we can repair them. But in others, we don't have the capacity to repair the items to satisfaction in an economically-viable way. I am curious to hear from anyone here on ideas on "Getting rid" of them in a meaningful manner that doesn't involve zero-revenue methods, as a fair number of items, I'd imagine, could work with some repair(s) that we can't afford internally.
Its a wide swath of stuff that we have - TVs, cell phones, kitchen appliances, tools, and what not, but its really asymmetrical in terms of brand/item/quality.
I've worked a little with locals via network to get rid of some items like broken TVs for parts, which is a promising avenue, but when it comes to, say, a specific model cell phone, it probably is a little harder, or maybe say, a kitchen deep fryer.
I've heard of people boxing them up, manifesting them, and sending them overseas where labor is cheaper in emerging markets, but I really don't know enough about that to network - or if that's truly viable.
Any thoughts are appreciated!
