Google Map icons earn by blogging adsense income

Hey everyone, I own a digital marketing agency and one of our clients is having trouble with the way his bar appears on Google Maps.

1) the icon of his bar is a generic location icon not a martini glass or the typical fork and knife icon seen on other bars/restaurants in his area.

2) his icon appears smaller than those around his location.

I searched on Google Forums for a way to change the icon associated with his business through his Google Partners account, but it seems as if the consensus is “Google assigns you an icon and you’re stuck with it”. His business is a bar/nightclub and he would like to change the generic location icon to a martini glass icon seen at other bars. Is there any trick to make this happen or is he stuck with what he has?
