I have a podcast directory with millions of pages and thousands of pages being added everyday. I'm trying to figure out how to optimize my multi-file sitemap.
If the sitemap starts with the most recently created pages, search crawlers will seemingly capture my freshest content, but the crawlers will essentially be running in one spot since the beginning of the index will be constantly changing and they might not be able to go deeper.
However, if the sitemap starts from the oldest pages, the crawler should have an easier time traversing the index. But will it really wade through the millions of pages or will it give up before reaching the newest content. And if it catches up to present how long would that take? Can I speed this up?
