I'm female and the company I own is a small start-up online e-commerce company (a little over 1 year old) with 5 part-time employees and 1 full-time staff, and we are looking to hire more full-time staff as we are trying to expand. The role of the job we are looking to fill is mostly going to deal with very personal information, such as cash flow, all financial accounts, personal accounts, etc. in order to help us with book-keeping for all of our inventory, so personally, trust is a really big factor in finding the right person.
My significant other (fiancé) is currently in a job that pays well but is not very fulfilling and is looking to quit his job by August otherwise his job will force him to relocate to another city. Since he is adept in book-keeping, he asked me if he could fill the position that we are currently looking to hire for.
I'm pretty much on the fence about this as I've heard horror stories of strained relationships between couples who work in the same company since one of the people in the relationship will have to work under the other.
Our relationship dynamic is pretty equal, and my significant other is quite a laid back and submissive type personality (somewhat introvert), so I'm not too sure how to properly respond to this, and if we DO hire him, what are the major cons (or pros?) that this can entail?
