Best text and online resources for beginners interested in opening B&M specialty gift shop? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I have small business experience (manage an independent movie theatre and run a successful online handmade shop) and am beginning to think about the possibility of opening a specialty gift shop in the future. Things I am clueless about include: how to go about purchasing items wholesale; insurance; getting set up as an LLC; getting funding for setting up the space and stocking inventory; choosing a POS system; etc.

I know that there is tons and tons of information online, but I was wondering if any of you have any particular favorite books or websites or other resources that you have used to help you get started with opening a brick & mortar store? If it helps narrow things down, I am in upstate NY and would be looking to stock both manufactured and handmade products. :)
