Early Stage Press Releases- What's the Best Way to get Coverage? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I am curious about the best way to contact media outlets to actually get our press release/story picked up.

We are an app start-up, just got approval from the apple store (android coming late July)

I am looking for advice such as:

Should I include a pre written press release to provide content to the media outlet?

Should that be in the body of the email of sent as an attachment?

Should I include a media package (pictures, infographics, and videos) that they can use in their article?

How much info to provide in the actual email vs directing them to the website?

Like most marketing I know testing various strategies will eventually reveal the best practices but I'm hoping to get some insight a little faster.

I have read a lot of blog posts and various materials on the subject but I'm curious if anyone has first hand experience.

I appreciate any insight!
