Hi, I have a social app for iOS, Android and Windows Mobile that lets user chat with nearby users. Everything's well except there are several spammers and scammers that annoy regular users.
The app uses phone number as login, so I ban scammers by their phone numbers (user community is strong and they report the scammers periodically or they just block them themselves), but that does not stop them. They just register with another phone phone number and continue scamming people.
In Android and WM, as far as I understand I can try blocking them by MAC address (though, it seems it can be changed) and I noticed, that Apple didn't leave any method for uniquely identifying user devices (I know about vendor id, but it changes with app reinstall and keychain persistence does not help from resetting the device). Blocking mobile devices by IP does not seem to be a good idea.
So, my question is, what are the best practices for blocking scammers in the service?
