I'm one of a handful of people doing a particular small business here, and while I have only spent a few hours reading up on SEO, I'm not sure how exactly to go about it. I expect most potential customers would be searching for "city - service" and picking from one of the first page results to contact. So as for keywords, I expect it's a really small list.
My goal is to get two or three extra inquiries per month. And I have done the first steps on /u/tianan's "SEO is not hard" post but with so much info around I felt it best to ask for advice here.
Do I need to worry about backlinks or is on-page SEO sufficient?
Should I look at hiring someone to do this for me, or is it going to be simple enough to do on my own?
My website is currently a free account on Zohosites, is this going to be an issue? Would I get something more out of another setup?
