Like the title says, me and a close friend of mine want to build a social network. We're both smart, technology-oriented people who are confident we can build the actual site with relative ease once we learn all the languages and such that we plan on using, and we both have history in programming and stuff, but neither of us know anything about business/marketing, especially something like this. I just recently graduated high school and he is going to be a senior this next school year, so we aren't exactly rolling in cash to help start us up either. Our dream is to create a network on the level of (and hopefully surpassing) Twitter and Facebook (especially with how dissatisfied many people are with those and other major social networks). I think the two of us could get the network done in a few years if we really grind, so we really need advice on building it into a profitable business.
