Question about social ques and asking business owner/ acquaintance to lunch entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I went to an event and got the number of someone doing what I'm doing but at a higher level.

I text him asking if he'd want to go get lunch sometime. Here's how it went http://ift.tt/2qfnPce

Wednesday comes and goes and I thought he would let me know if he's free. It's starting to dawn on me that I should have asked if he was free instead of waiting for him to tell me.

I want to meet him for lunch but I don't want to drive him away. As a business owner myself i wouldn't want someone constantly asking me to go to lunch all the time.

For context this happened last October and i didn't think anything of it until recently when i was talking to my mentor and he asked if i went to lunch with him and he was a little disappointed i didn't.
