Smart Home Installation in Country w/ Little/No Access to Echo or Google Home entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

OK a big idea has arrived.

Background: I live in a country that seems to loves tech and has a huge tech industry, but I do not see any evidence of the smart home industry arriving here yet. People can't just ship in a Google Home or Echo because of the plugs here.

1. Product: Smart-Home Devices and Installation. I'll develop smart-home devices that will provide homeowners with easy to use productivity tools and enable them to automate their home, cutting energy costs, time spent on simple tasks, and increasing quality of life.

2. Hours spent on Pinterest... and a personal obsession with Internet of Things.

3. Not really started. I'm registered as a freelance business person here, and have an accountant for my web development business. So, from a legal perspective, think I'm good to start.

I need to get my hands on some equipment first, test it all out, develop ideas, drive my gf and cats insane, then market it, but I think this is something that would be highly marketable, and that I would really really enjoy.

Thoughts? Does this beat beef jerky for the massive ex-pat community?
