Everyone seems to dislike upwork and other sites who help freelancers and clients connect. Allot of people on this sub tell freelancers to land there own clients to control the relationship and other aspects.
Why isn't there just a straight up directory with requirements to be listed for people just to see developers work and contact them. Kind of like angies list, simple, clean and easier for non tech people to find a developer and deal directly.
No more wondering if your talking to an overseas person or someone subbing out the work causing lackluster results.
No bidding to the bottom because you contact the developer and deal with each other on your own. This would be for experienced freelancers who know how to land clients and deal with money and project management on there own.
A nice sleek website where you can show off and get calls, yellow page, angies list type thing. No frills just old school directory.
If this exists please show me and if not why is this a good or bad idea?
